A neutral blend of beeswax, lanolin and a light oil that won't alter the colour of whatever you put it on. This is the balm we reach for in the workshop, and it's all a vegetable-tanned piece needs twice a year. It isn't a cleaner and it isn't a waterproofer—anything claiming to do all three rarely does any of them well.

Ingredients
Beeswax, lanolin, neatsfoot oil and carnauba wax. No silicone, no petroleum distillate. Both give leather a short-lived shine and then suffocate it, which is how a conditioned bag ends up cracking.
Use
A fingertip of balm on a cloth does a whole wallet; a walnut-sized amount does a bag. Work it in, leave for twenty minutes, buff with a brush. More isn't better—over-conditioned leather goes limp and stays that way.
